About the Program
Considering the breadth of penetration of the conceptual corpus of psychoanalysis in different cultural and professional fields, this master’s program aims at creating an academic space where to study more in depth and do research on Jacques Lacan’s contributions to the theoretical foundations of psychoanalysis and the interdisciplinary developments which interact with other fields where subjectivity is developed.
While not unaware of the diversity of orientations in psychoanalytic theory even before Sigmund Freud’s death, this academic proposal is based on a criterion of theoretical consistency that can coherently articulate the elements of a complex conceptual building in which each notion rests on and interacts with its predecessors and anticipates future internal epistemological twists. For this reason, the program’s curriculum focuses on a journey through the turning points in Jacques Lacan’s teaching, so that students can follow it as it was produced, including its ruptures and articulations.
Duration and Requirements
Over a two-year period, students must take 18 mandatory 25-hour seminars and 4 elective 15-hour seminars. In addition, a thesis workshop is taught every month throughout the program. Assisted by specialized faculty, students receive personalized advice and guidance in their thesis-writing process.
Master’s Thesis
Submitting your thesis is the final step leading to the award of your Master’s Degree in Lacanian Psychoanalytic Theory. The content of your thesis should make an individual and original contribution to knowledge.
Language
At the end of the program, students must take a reading comprehension test in a foreign language, after which they have up to 18 months to submit their theses. These are evaluated by a thesis committee and defended orally by the students.

Application
Applicants for admission must have an undergraduate degree in one of the following disciplines: Medicine, Psychology, Educational Psychology and Educational Sciences. Admission to the program may also be granted to applicants who have received an undergraduate degree in related fields from an accredited public or private university in Argentina or the equivalent from an international college or university.
